It appears America is a stage for perverted criminals who believe whatever they can dream they can do! They do indeed take those dreams and turn them into horrible, ghoulish realities.
Sociologists, Psychiatrists and criminologists have come up with a number of theories for the grizzly crimes committed by people against people. Defense lawyers attempting to get their clients the most lenient punishment and undoubtedly come up with the most innovative theories ranging from temporary insanity and disorder deficiencies to self defense and the battered and abuse syndromes. Let's take the common sense and human nature approach and label most of these crimes as acts of unbridled and undisciplined personal evil and passion in a nation where there is little fear of punishment.
The following horror crime stories are recent in our society and are only a sample of the horrible atrocities committed in our so-called crime war. Almost every state in the nation is the site of multiple horror crimes. These crimes become even more horrible when the punishment for the offenses is considered. Following are true and documented accounts of horrible crimes that sound like tabloid accounts.
Susan Smith of Union, S.C. in November of 1994 admitted her story of abduction of her two small boys was a hoax. She appeared on national television and pleaded with the abductor to return her children. Hundreds of law enforcement and search people mobilized in the hunt for the kidnapper and the children. People around the nation were heartbroken to find the mother had in fact drowned her own children by strapping them into the family car and driving the car into a nearby lake while the children struggled to free themselves as the car submerged into the murky waters. Authorities estimate approximately 40 babies were killed by their mothers in the USA during the two weeks of high profile publicity received in this case.
Henry M. Heepe of Akron, Ohio told police he beat his mother to death and then cut out her organs because she was a "vampire devil". When police investigated, body parts of the mother were found bubbling in a pot on the stove.
Douglas Thomas Clark, 28 was charged with first degree murder with bail denied. Clark had been seeing Debra Stevens, a fortune teller for advice. About two hours after Clark visited the fortune teller, Ms. Stevens was found murdered and beheaded.
John Wayne Gacy undoubtedly would have reached the century mark of killing young boys if he had not been apprehended. The bodies of 33 young people were found buried under his home. After 14 years on death row and millions of taxpayer dollars spent on appeals, this monster was put to death.
Jeffrey Dahmer may hold the record for the most gruesome and horrifying crime in America. In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dahmer admitted killing, mutilating and occasionally cannibalizing seventeen young people. One of his would-be victims escaped in handcuffs and led police to Dahmer's apartment where police found skulls saved as mementos, torsos soaking in acid, severed heads and two human hearts in the refrigerator and body parts preserved to be eaten later. The 34-year old monster man said he drugged, strangled and dismembered his victims, ate some of the body parts, flushed brains down the toilet and had sex with some of the corpses. Dahmer was sentenced to life in prison and started serving his time in a Wisconsin prison in 1991. In a weird sense of justice criminals have their own code of morality. Apparently in an effort to overrule the American judicial system for it's failure to put Dahmer to death, an inmate beat Dahmer to death in prison on November 28, 1994.
Prosecutors in this case said livestock in packing houses get better treatment than two murder victims received. The victims were stabbed, beaten and had their throats cut. Twelve years for each murder is what a New Mexico judge gave Samuel Haynie age 24 for the brutal murders.
A teen-age mother in Pomona, California allegedly crushed the head and chest of her 9-pound newborn and then tossed the body to the dogs in a neighbors yard. Araceli Garcia is the mother of two other children aged 2 and 3. Supposedly Garcia was trying to hide the pregnancy from her parents with whom she lived.
These are the kind of crimes that shock the social conscience of America and only a few of these horror crimes ever become high profile cases. The type of horrible crimes showcased here have now become epidemic and commonplace in the absence of legal justice reform. Only swift and sure punishment for these types of crime can stop them-namely the death penalty with immediate execution!
