IMPORTANT KEYS TO A VITAL AND HAPPY LIFESTYLE!

The important keys to a vital and happy lifestyle is a balanced life!  A balanced life consists of the physical, mental and spiritual qualities.  These are intertwined and when one is missing there is a detrimental effect on the one (s) remaining.  Our top health condition depends upon a good balance of all three.

For the greatest good mental and spiritual health possible begin each day with gratitude for our Creator. When we look beyond the obvious what do we see?  We see life itself and a life that is full of rich experiences, joys and memories.  Americans see a life of great convenience and abundance.  Who is responsible for life and all that abundance?  Who has afforded us those experiences?  We see families, mothers and fathers, grandparents, brothers and sisters, friends and relatives.  We see people we love and people who love us. 

Americans see a great homeland and nation with freedoms given us under a God-inspired constitution.  A nation that is a shining beacon to the entire world.  We see a nation that our citizens are willing to die for to protect freedom.  Sure we see a nation with faults but also a nation that non-Americans are willing to run the risk of death just to get here. We hear the song “God Bless America” and it stirs the spirit within our soul.  Are we reminded to thank the Lord?

Yes we see adversities. We see sadness, accidents, tragedies, crime, death and disappointments.  There are reasons for these adversities.  When we see those things we are reminded to thank the Lord for what we have and the remaining blessings in our life and our sense of gratitude returns.                

We see a newborn baby and we are reminded of the miraculous event of birth.  A birth that all began with a single cell and then multiplied into billions of cells and then barring any genetic defect, emerged with a perfectly formed human being with the eyes, nose, mouth and ears all in the right place.  There is even a set of teeth to chew our food.  Then there are the arms, legs and feet in the right place with useful fingers on each hand and toes for grippers at the end of our feet.  Then we see the senses provided to enjoy all facets of mortal life.  Then we are reminded there is a higher power and intelligence directing this whole process of life on earth.

Many of us exercise our great freedom of religion opportunity and show our sense of gratitude in our houses of worship.  Others get mired in worldly pleasures and become complacent.  Then they miss out on the joy of the spirit found in that freedom of opportunity.  Still others have forgotten the Lord altogether as their sense of gratitude has been dulled by the world of mortality.

Yes this is another day.  As the night disappears and the moon that lights the earth at night fades away-the bright sun comes up to give our new day the light it needs.  Opportunity and blessings abound in our lives this new day.   There is a source that made all this opportunity and these blessings possible.   Oh the miracle of it all.  Don’t forget to thank the Lord today!

Be Careful Not To Get Entangled In The Marketing Traps Of Mortality

Health wise, our bodies were created with an amazing capacity to fight off disease, depression and a host of other physical and mental maladies.  To keep our bodies hitting on all cylinders we must be smart about what we put into our bodies.  That includes a great nutritional program that actually helps not hurt our body mechanisms.  It includes steering clear of many of the modern day toxins that lurk all around us that can run our immune system down.  It certainly includes the negatives that abound in society today including but not limited to; drugs, alcohol, tobacco and even harmful pharmaceuticals that are the favorites of the medical community.  

Lets take an example of the pharmaceuticals. Overall the incidence of cancer has more than quadrupled during the past 25 years.  During that time we have put a man on the Moon, built a space station, landed a vehicle on Mars and entered into a high tech revolution of electronics including the worldwide Internet.  Yet during that same 25 year period the drug of choice for cancer continues to be Chemotherapy, a drug that devastates the human body, killing and sacrificing good cells while attempting to kill cancer cells.  If the truth be told this drug kills more people than it helps and yet it is the drug of choice of the medical community and the pharmaceutical industry.  We have to be cautious of power pockets that form in the free enterprise system where billions of dollars in profits is the main focus of these power pockets and our public health is secondary.  

IMPORTANT SECRETS FOR EACH HAPPY NEW YEAR!

New year's resolutions traditionally have been important to some people.  Even more important are the things that never change with the coming of each new year and keeping the focus upon those things.  Three important truths that never change with the coming each new year are; (1) The central challenge in life is human relationships (2) Human relationships have spiritual roots and (3) The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the centerpiece for a vital and happy life.  

The Central Challenge of Human Relationships

Every human being coming into this mortal life comes in with the gift of free agency given us by our Creator.  This gift is a double-edge sword in human relationships.  With this free agency we can develop any kind of ideology we desire.  We can develop an ideology of service to others or we can develop an ideology of selfishness.  We can develop an ideology of balanced logic and emotion or we can develop an ideology of emotion alone with a lot of negatives that frequently explode in human relationships.  We can develop an ideology of respect for others and their opinion or we can develop an ideology of a closed mind to other opinions and believe that anyone that disagrees with us has got to be wrong.  It is this latter ideology that is a sure collision course in human relationships that ultimately leads to a radical lifestyle. 

Human Relationships Have Spiritual Roots

Every human being coming into this mortal life comes in with spiritual roots.  Biblical history tells us we are made in the image of our Creator.  That image not only includes our physical appearance but also the spiritual attributes of our Creator.  This is what I call the spiritual roots.  Those roots include love, forgiveness, compassion, repentance, faith, obedience to laws and the list goes on.  The success in our human relationships depend upon our use of those spiritual roots.  When we maintain and  use those spiritual roots our human relationships will be lasting and successful.  When we disregard or cut those spiritual roots we become robotic and start flying our lives on instruments-we become mechanical.   

The Gospel Of Jesus Christ Is The Centerpiece For A Vital And Happy Life

We can go to the drug store and find a supermarket selection for our physical ailments. We can get aspirin for a headache, band aids for a scratch or cut, all types of remedies for a cold and the list goes on.  If the malady is serious we can resort to surgery even to the point of replacing a knee, a liver or a heart.  All of these issues play on the mental health that may result in depression or some other mental health issue-so what about that?  Barring some kind of a personal genetic defect, only by embracing the Gospel of Jesus Christ can we be assured of great mental health.  When we embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ and accept Him as our Savior we have an escape hatch for our own personal wrongs and sins through the atonement.  Only through Him do we have hope of the resurrection, of exhaltation and life eternal.  It is this faith and hope that will cause us to have eternal perspective rather than mortal perspective.  When that eternal perspective kicks in and becomes our philosophy rather than a mortal philosophy of struggle, only then will be have the guarantee of a vital and happy life on this planet earth.
